Hi! I'm Ross Mays. Thanks for visiting my site. Here's the part
where I talk about myself. I grew up in a small town in the Ozarks
of northern Arkansas, and I still have the accent to prove it. I
have since lived in New Orleans, Virginia, Newfoundland, Colorado,
and various parts of Arkansas. After getting a Master's Degree in
Psychology, I moved to Newfoundland for more graduate school in
Animal Behavior. That is where I got the idea for writing this book.
Foolishly thinking I was qualified, and that it would take about a
year, I left school to write it. I was totally unqualified, of
course, and I had to more or less drop out of society for several
years to do it. Now that I'm almost finished, however, I feel like
I basically know what I'm talking about. Like many authors, I found
that the act of writing a book is what makes you qualified to have
written it (at least I hope it does). A couple of years ago, I moved
from Colorado back to my home town in Arkansas, in order to finish
writing (not many distractions here). It's beautiful place, but now
that this project is winding down, I'm ready to move to a big city
and rediscover having a social life. I can't wait. In the meantime,
I like to hike, read, drink way too much coffee, take short
agonizing runs, and spend time with the friends, family, and
numerous cats and dogs who have helped get me though this project.
